CAMERA: NIKON D90
LENS: NIKKOR AF-S 70-300mm VR @ 300mm

This small frog pond is the only significant source of “fresh” water in this wild elevated area, so birds regularly come to drink from it. This is an American goldfinch.

Taken on Gospel Rock, near Gibsons, British Columbia, Canada.

I’m a retired stationary engineer who lives on British Columbia’s scenic Sunshine Coast, which although on the mainland, can only be accessed by water or air – just the way we Coasters like it!

Wildlife and nature photography is my hobby and passion. My primary camera is a Nikon D90 and most of these photos are taken with a Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm VR lens.

I appreciate and try to answer all sincere comments.

    Lovely capture and reflection Carl.

  • Thank you Andrea. I’d photographer more songbirds, but it’s difficult (for me, at least) to get close enough for a good shot with my little 300 mm.

Beautiful!! Love this one, Carl. I have a large flock that stays all winter. My favorite sweet birds!

  • Thank you Susana. Yes, we have lots of them here too. They’re the state bird of Washington, a few miles south of here.
