LENS: SIGMA APO 150-500mm @ 500mm

Only the sound of his pecking gave him away. A quick search and I glimpsed him through some dead blackberry canes pecking at the base of a dead tree. I stuck my camera through a slight gap, and this was the result.

Taken near Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada.

I’m a retired stationary engineer who lives on British Columbia’s scenic Sunshine Coast, which although on the mainland, can only be accessed by water or air – just the way we Coasters like it!

Wildlife and nature photography is my hobby and passion. My primary camera is a Nikon D90 and most of these photos are taken with a Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm VR lens.

I appreciate and try to answer all sincere comments.

  • Thanks Chris. Yes I was lucky he didn’t fly away. These are normally very timid birds.
