One Tree

Pastels on canvas 40×30 cm

I was inspired to do this after traveling through the farming countryside and observing the lack of trees in the paddocks…I felt for the sheep and cows…as it was a really hot day and they had no shade …and what lone trees there was for them had not enough shade for all…so much land….so little life on it…
when I came home I took that unfortunate inspiration and used it

  • Wildwings

    Wildwings

Wonderful composition. The tree looks like the body of a woman facing the hills. Especially like your choice of color. Is this work in oil pastels or chalk pastels?

  • Care replied

    ....ah….very observant….mean’t to have that aspect to it….not a woman…or a tree…on its own….a little of both….
    ....it’s done with oil pastels : )

  • Wildwings

    Wildwings

Oil pastels, I thought so. I always observe and study what I comment on. It’s only fair to the artist. :)

Please forgive how slack i’ve been with my comments recently Care… I hope you are well and enjoying life x

This piece is absolutely brilliant. Love the intense use of colour and how the tree brances twists and wrap around. It’s almost like a victory dance of sorts, like the tree is embracing it’s uniqueness! Love the mood, setting and tone here, really is superb :-)

  • Care replied

Hi Adam!...am very well and enjoying life…hope you are too…I’ve been a bit slack myself so I understand…
thankyou for such kind words…so glad you like it…and love how you see it : )

  • Mui-Ling Teh

    Mui-Ling Teh

Love the colours in this piece. That tree kind of looks like a woman stretching her arms towards the sun greeting the morning; or that she is mourning. I would also have never imagined that one could successfully use a palette of vibrant colours like you did to portray loneliness.
