A portrait of Mavis Staples in mixed-media expressionistic with feeling

Inspired by her music and her words her joy and her love of all people I created a portrait of her today

Understanding why today, February 25,2012 just how important her message of staying positive and having hope is to me by listening to her song again

Ms Staples said, “God’s music is everybody’s music” and when asked about her music, her gospel music when once shunned by some people she said that some people were not listening to the lyrics they need to feel the music

I love it when she said, “The Devil ain’t got no music”.

Her message is so true about giving love to everybody

Joy, Love, Life

paper: parchment paper, Prismacolor colored pencil, soft pastel
