FEATURED in Painter’s Universe
FEATURED in Freedom of Expression

Yes, I appreciate being featured today(January 27, 2012)…NPR and local news had my/our Washington state Senator in the news quite a bit today so I encourage all the love sent our way here to the United States of America and I also hope that if this is all a just how life works out then that is even better because we are all connected are we not this just proves it to be true because people who care about others, who care about the community, the future, and work hard to give in order for others to succeed then we all will enjoy happiness.

Smiles all around today

Senator Patty Murray, a woman who inspires me this month, January, 2012
She is doing good things in our community here in Washington state for many people,

She is taking the time to care,

She is thinking about the future and find peace

She is doing something through the simple act of communication.

I painted this portrait of her after writing my article for Examiner Tacoma because the photograph of her on her website did not fit the photo requirements for the Examiner without me having to crop her photo provided to the media so in my frustration I painted my own portrait because I did not want to stretch and manipulate hers to fit my needs. Besides I enjoyed this process. So it all worked out.

Senator Murray discusses issues for veterans, communities, neighborhoods

I am always blown away when someone creates a spot on portrait out of a few little strokes!! Awesome work and congrats on the feature!!

  • Dion Nelson, I want to say, thank you, for your comment of my portrait of Washington state Senator Patty Murray, when you wrote how I created her portrait “…out of a few little strokes!!” This is how I work, if it is work, it feels like freedom to me Dion it is freedom those few little strokes when I could express myself and show her as I saw her so that I could give her to the world when I felt that I could not in any other way. Thank you for understanding and for appreciating too
