Our Community: Conversations of Hope with Cara Schingeck—Joint Services Support at Camp Murray in Tacoma, Washington by Cara Schingeck in June 2011 Watch, Listen, Learn: I was invited by then Colonel Mike Johnson now retired and Executive Director of Lakewood YMCA to sit in on a meeting of J9 you will hear me taking notes, moving in my chair (yes, it may distract you but you are here with me in this meeting) where military people get together to collaborate and work together to help support our military and military families; Listen as I did to how many in our community come together to give hope to our soldiers and their families, to provide information, services, education, training you will find help in this informative audio and photos from their generous invitation to me…forgive my noise listen to their conversation…I was trying to take notes on all of the information so much so many services in our community for you for us.

This soldier, this veteran, this community member who continues to serve his country has not given up and does more for us all he understands us and by “us” I mean military, military families, veterans.

I had the great gift of meeting and getting to know ret Col. Mike K. Johnson on June 20, 2011 who at that time was the Director of the Joint Services Support in Tacoma, Washington.

    Thank you ret. Col. Mike K. Johnson for your service on this day, Veteran’s Day November 11, 2011 and on every day for our country and for our community as Executive Director of the Lakewood YMCA, Tacoma Washington…Lakewood YMCA needs your help at their first “Harvest Drive” on November 18th from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to collect unwrapped toys, non-perishable food items, coats, and blankets in good usable condition locate at 9715 Lakewood Dr. SW, in Lakewood, Washington. Johnson and his YMCA

    team has made a convenient drive thru drop off for you to donate to charitable organizations including Toys for Tots, Emergency Food Network and a station to receive your items to be distribute to local shelters but they also want you to know that you are invited to special event they are hosting in your honor in the Community Room this day, Friday, November 18th to show you how much they appreciate your generous donations.
