I was inspired to create this mixed media painting of the sand storm in Kuwait that occurred on March 25th of this year because my brother took the photo that I used to create my painting.

In other words, my brother was there and experienced the sand storm first hand along with many other people, many other Soldiers.

I first learned of the Kuwait sand storm on March 28th when my brother sent me a You tube video. He was in one of the buildings that I depicted in my painting.

This storm was immense and one that had not been seen in Kuwait for many years. It was a storm like none other ever experienced by many U.S. Soldiers.

I just recently received his photos of the storm so I painted his view of the storm. However, I painted the storm in unreal colors because in my interpretation, from my perspective it was an event that was real yet surreal.

This is my own way of depicting events as I see them because I have know way of really understanding what it was like to be there of course.
