Keep the chapels open Mr. President
The month of November is my inspiration.
November 11th is Veterans Day the annual holiday in the United States to honor military veterans.
My portrait is a drawing I made from a photograph I took when I was at my nephew’s homecoming from Iraq. All these brave soldiers returning home and I could not see my nephew through the many faces of our soldiers who were the last battalion to return from Iraq. So what I did was take a photograph of them all, all of them so brave, so happy to be home so many emotions.
I wish my drawing could convey to you what that moment in time was like to be there, to see the joy, the life, the homecoming.
My portrait today is to remember the return of our combat veterans from Iraq who returned after their service to our country and I honor and thank them for their service as I also thank their families and honor their families and I wish them well.
Welcome home and my heartfelt thanks for your service, your dedication and your sacrifice.
