still life photograph of a pear painted with acrylic, alternative process printing, hand painted on photo paper.
A still life inspired by my Grandparents cannery. For this reason, I created I used the above technique to create a surrealistic feeling that for me represents, symbolizes a process of remembering and how for me memories are vague but colors are saturated at time and at time very real.
H, remember those juicy pears that Grandpa and Grandma always had at their custom cannery in Eastern Washington? We would go in the summer time and there were always so many people there canning their vegetables and fruits. The cannery was always a gathering place for the community. I think you were too young to work there, you were lucky for that in some ways but it was a fun place to work too. Stacking all the cans of fruit and listening to all the stories the ladies would tell as they prepared the cans for us kids to seal and stack in the back of that old cannery.
The cannery and Grandpa and Grandma are gone now but the memories will never be forgotten.
