toned digital photograph of an abandoned house in a rural small town in Roslyn, Washington state, U.S.
I found this house while on one of my many road trips that I take when I need to think or escape. Roslyn is the town that was used to film “Northern Exposure” years back. Not much remains of that experience for this sleepy town, it has kept it’s charm to this day and that it what I like about it-the locals all know each other..they are more than happy to let someone (who just drive’s into their town with a camera-poking around abandoned buildings) access into a building to photograph, even though they see no sense to it, they will even go find their friend who has the keys to the padlock on the door to amuse this gal with the camera.
H, isn’t Roslyn a great place? Remember the western town feel it still keeps for the tourists?
Just down the Interstate from Lake Kaches…remember late this summer I told you I swam in the lake?
Just floating on my back while the sun was setting…
all around me in that alpine lake all I could see
the orange red sky
hear my own breathe
thinking of you
I said a prayer and asked for your to please be able to swim in clear, clean water and look up as I was doing and hear your breath and float softly and relax.
Then you tell me later in a call that you swam a 10k race where you are on base.
I cannot tell you how much it meant to me to know that you were able to be in water and have some relief, some time to forget…
In those moments in the water-to remember-to be alone with yourself and to be in your world…pure joy…you are taking good care of yourself and you are a powerful swimmer!
H, I am so proud of you
