FEATURED INSPIRED ART

Mixed media ink and water color on bond paper.
Today, October 3, 2010 I created a portrait of myself.

A self portrait inspired by my own feelings about my brother’s deployment in our war.

I show to you how I feel, notice how I have drawn my eyes, they are looking to the left…I have learned that the eyes move to the left while thinking about a sound…that is why I made my self portrait showing my eyes in this way because I am thinking about the sound of my brother’s laugh, I am also thinking about the question of how many other people are missing the laughter of their own brother’s and sister’s as much as I do.

I made my portrait not from a mirror but from my own mind, from my own soul and from my own feelings-this is what inspired my drawing today.

Again it is about the daily emotional experiences of those who have loved ones in our war.

I miss you H…

You make me smile
Your voice lifts my spirits
Your thoughtfulness means so much to me

Just like the other day, you took my call even though I woke you up because I forgot the correct calculation of time difference and you still picked up the call and you were so kind and you made me laugh and I made you laugh…it was like you were just down the road.

H, you have a very good heart and you are and forever will be a person I admire and look up to…I only look sideways when I want to hear you laugh.

  • Thank you for featuring my work in Art with Meaning. This work of art is just one of many as you may know that is very important personally and for others to recognize or to find meaning for themselves, as an artist adds another dimension to my project, my tribute to my brother which I had not expected…thank you once again for your recognition. So appreciate your artistic autobiography of your experience with your brother being away at war…protecting all of us. I am so grateful for his sacrifice and service to our country.

  • Lynn, thank you very much for your heartfelt comment that means a great deal to me and I am sure to my family and to my brother as well…I appreciate your sentiments and your comments of my artwork. I am also grateful for his and all the others who sacrifice for our war to serve and to protect and I pray for their safe return.

Forgive me if I did not mention your sacrifice and your family’s sacrifice in having to be apart and under such unsettling and frightening circumstances. I don’t think this is what you are saying in your above comment, but I want to recognize and honor you, your family and all the military families going through this. And yes, may they all return safely : ) God bless you and your family and brother!

  • Thank you.
