For you mom and for me and for all of us together we carry our hand me downs and I know, no I don’t know but I do feel and I do love you mom. I love you and I know that your feelings are mine too and I carry them with me today, everyday so please know that I am here with you fractured and old and young just like you so together we will stay strong and we will always be remembering these times together.

My cousin Michelle Bartholet speaks the truth:

To all the girls who are in a hurry to have a boyfriend or get married, a piece of Biblical advice: " Ruth patiently waited for her mate Boaz." While you are waiting on YOUR Boaz, don’t settle for any of his relatives; Broke-az, Po-az, Lyin-az, Cheating-az, Dumb-az, Drunk-az, Cheap-az, Lockedup-az, , Goodfornothing-az, Lazy-az, and especially his third cousin Beatinyo-az. Wait on your Boaz and make sure he respects Yoaz…I took this from a friend of mine Shelley Shultz, loved it!

Michelle, thank you for your wisdom and your strength for giving to our world a gentleman and that my cousin you know is pricless.

Thank you Jason

INSPIRATION:

Today, October 2, 2010 I created a portrait of my personal experience with the face of a mother whose son is going to be gone for a very long time.

She looks Eyes Up and Right: Dominant hemisphere visualization – i.e., constructed imagery and visual fantasy because she is remembering in her minds-eye visual images of her son.

She is an old woman who is scared, shattered, lost and afraid to face her own fears.

She avoids the reality of his distance from her by keeping busy and tearing herself into so many pieces which is why I created her portrait the way that I did to demonstrate my compassion and understanding of how she feels.

I love her very much because I know, as a mother myself, not exactly how she feels exactly because her feelings are her own but I do know how hard it is to have a son so far away.

My portrait today is again inspired by my own daily emotional experiences and of those I know and love.

I share with you how I interpret the feelings of others and of myself of families who have loved ones in our war.

I love the style. It’s amazing how you can see the expression so well and actually feel it with so many wild lines. I don’t know if the cuts are intentional, but I like how they give depth and texture to the piece.

  • Thanks for your feedback and commentary of my artwork. your detailed feedback is always so welcomed. as far as the “cuts” the are never “intentional” they are created from inside, internally, from my soul…for you to call them cuts I find so interesting and I welcome your commentary very much. Cuts…very interesting. Thank you for your sincere and honest feedback that gives me time to reflect upon my artwork
