mixed media charcoal and graphite on bond paper portrait of a soldier and a child inspired by our war.

Day 42, September 11, 2010

I have purposely created a portrait of my own mind’s eye of how I view him (the soldier from Day 40 in my Our War series) this person, this human being, this father, this veteran of war-I show to you what I wish in my heart is the truth and that is that he is watching over us all today with a child of the war he sacrificed his life for-it could be a child of Iraq it could be a child of Afghanistan…this United States Soldier died in Iraq.

So, I leave it to you to decide who the child is sitting next to him. It may be his guarding angel…I hope and I want to believe they are both watching over us right now.
