FEATURED in The Group
I found inspiration for my drawing, “Our War: Part 00-40a”, from the numerous stories of how two very different cultures were trying to come together and find common ground and trying to understand one another in order to work together for peace in a country that was a combat zone and in chaos.
MEDIUM: mixed-media water color pencil, soft pastel on bond paper
#Our War series prior to August 1, 2010 by Cara Schingeck is a drawing of a U.S. Soldier and Middle East civilian#
The “Our War: Part 00” drawings and paintings I created prior to my brother’s deployment.
I began creating these works when I was informed by my brother that he was going to be deployed.
This artwork symbolized the beginning of the Our War project—the start of me using art as a way to express my self through my art each day.
They are examples of how I came to realize that to stay close to my brother I would do a drawing or a painting a day to stay close to my brother upon his deployment through my series.*
