My inspiration for Day 16 pencil and ink on bond paper portrait came from the Focus Project.
The FOCUS Project is a non-profit organization that provides services to assist families adjust and to learn skills to help their loved ones adjust prior to the troops coming home from combat. This organization also offers a private blog for a way for families across the nation to share and connect about what issues they face that are unique to families who have loved ones who have seen combat over and over again and what this does not only to the soldiers but to their families.
My drawing is of two little girls hugging their father, a U.S. Soldier, the mother of the children is also part of the family hug…it is a gesture drawing, look into their eyes.
For those who feel that they may benefit from support-please take the time to look into the many resources available to assist you-they are out there for you.
FOCUS (Families Overcoming Under Stress) provides resiliency training to military families. It teaches practical skills to meet the challenges of deployment and reintegration, to communicate and solve problems effectively, and to successfully set goals together and create a shared family story.
