A pencil, graphite dry pigment powder drawing on Mylar that I scratched for an atmospheric background prior to drawing a portrait

I was inspired to use a new technique, to experiment in mixed media that would create a feeling of dust from a helicopter as it lands and covers oneself and creates confusion just as these soldiers I feel must have experienced as I read a story of U.S. Army soldiers who are covered in dust as a helicopter lands outside their base during a firefight at a combat outpost in Kandahar, Afghanistan, July 2010.

I was also confused in a different way than these brave soldiers or maybe is what that I was feeling mixed emotions about how the story said that U.S military is increasing deployment to Afghanistan.
