To honor all of our Soldiers who will never return from our war.

Today, I made a pencil, pastel chalk pencil drawing of a mother who visits the grave of her son. A Marine who was killed in Helmand province in Afghanistan in April 2010.

She grieves in silence, her grief is profound, and the rows of graves in the background just a hint at the immensity, the great size, limitless extent; infinite space or being of loss and grief from within her seems to me to expand into the universe which must touch us all.
