Cara Schingeck has dedicated herself to her series entitled, Our War in honor of her brother.
Schingeck began this project upon her brother’s deployment to the Middle East.
Each month of this calendar is a work of art that Schingeck created on a specific day during her brother’s deployment and reflects her emotions, thoughts and what she discovered of herself and of the war as well.
Schingeck’s “Our War” series is a journey in which she shares with the viewer her research and her writings to her brother, her feelings about his deployment and the war and what she learns about the war.
Schingeck also explains in detail about the medium she chooses to use for a particular day, explains what inspired each image and explores a variety of mediums to express her emotions.
She shares what she has learned about the war and how she interprets it – how she feels about this information and how the information about the war influenced her artwork that day.
Cara Schingeck’s “Our War” series has no political agenda.
Schingeck’s goal for her “Our War” series is to honor her brother, to communicate with him through her art and to share with him her emotions while showing to him her love and her respect for his service and sacrifice.
She continues to create works of art in a variety of mediums including writing and performance art until her brother returns from the war.
Cara Schingeck is a conceptual contemporary unconventional artist and the owner of Design & Conceptual Art, Tacoma, WA.
