Kings Canyon by Coreena Vieth

It’s only September and already heating up in Central Australia – we’re already experiencing mid to high 30’s C when ordinarily at this time of the year it’s up to 5 degrees C cooler. The reptiles have come out of the winter hibernation and while at Kings Canyon we were treated to viewing the myriad of lizards scuttling from one spinifex plant to another.
There were so many of the ring-tailed dragons from adults to juveniles and although very quick to run away when approached by us humans I was able to get a couple of nice close-ups.
As for the perentie, the largest lizard in the Australia and can grow to a massive 2.5 metres in length, the one I saw was a juvenile – maybe that’s why I was able to get close enough to get a good photo.
So I hope you enjoy looking at my pics – I may have a couple more to add but at this stage I feel that the ones I’ve added today are my favourite.
