I really had to work to spot this on what was a relatively large photo of lots of people, so this is a tight crop. I liked the crisp face of the lead guitarist framed through the blur of the bassist in the foreground and against some harsh green lighting.

End product I was most proud of on the night.

Man, do I need a proper flash and I need to read the D80 book Mark B (or Bark M) gave me some weeks ago.

Nice, as you say nicely framed. I think your photos came out really well without a flash. In fact I reckon a flash wouldn’t have worked – but that’s my newbie perspective..

I agree with Mark about being better without the flash. I really like this..I love the contrast in colour..the green and orange/red and it’s definitely done what it set out to do. Love the framing as well. Great shot Chris ! :)

Hi Mark and Jeannette – thanks for the very kind and much appreciated words. I was really pleased with this shot and how it ended up. The lighting, whilst a challenge, added so much to the overall effects and finished works. I’m chuffed.

man you don’t need a flash…who wants to spoil an intimate and natural ambient shoot with fake harsh shadowing flash.
iso and f2 will do for me.
a good shot chris but you’ll hate me for saying this but…
if you croped this from a larger picture perhaps leave more of the mic in so it does’nt appear as a ball at the edge.
leaving more room for the mic would leave breathing space for the subject.
otherwise what a great shot. be proud.. al
