This Lilly has struggled to make a late show on our pond, but it looked interesting with the bubbles rising and gathering round it. More natural daylight would have helped, but it was overcast – unlike today, but then today the flower didn’t open.
Well seen and great subject. As you say you were always going to struggle with the lighting on this one. Post processing would help I’m sure.. (and that’s NOT cheating!). I guess you needed to go down to fairly low F numbers meaning a bigger apperture to capture in this light, sacrificing pin sharpness too..
good comment mark but your wrong on the sharpness it is just the focus is more critical and a the pin sharpness in more to the center. this add’s to the effect of a good shot as the backround can be blurred of much closer to the subject. in this case though the bubbles toward the edge of the frame would start bluring and the one’s closer to the centre image would still be sharp. still don’t forget the iso when going for hard to light subjects. also don’t forget white balance and sca1986 photoshop could easily put all the missing factors back into the shot. love the picture though… great shot.
