Remember the time, not so long ago,
A hero you were, doing battle with the windmills blades,
formidable they were, moving to and fro.
She looked at you to save the day,as you fought to keep riding,
the swords of self discontent and a yearning kept at bay.
You wanted her more than you could say, words came easy,
pen and paper, writing was your forte.
How you longed to sweep her off her feet,
To fly right out of the sky, your cape a flutter,
As if what Superman and Batman would do, in a single heartbeat.
Funny dreams of a man, trapped, still such a boy,
The look through her eyes you saw, were the tales of a little girl,
But more of a comic book character to her you were,
Just a writers imagination and toy.
You were real, as real as could be, how could she not see,
Maybe it was that plastic sword and polyester cape,
That was the only part….in your fairytail…of make believe
