Muscle cars in Queensland

I’m putting together some more detailed looks for Eucalypse: Brisvegas next month, and am looking to do a 1960s/70s Underbelly/Miami Vice type shoot alongside the two similar era hotels we’ll be shooting at on the Gold Coast.

I’m wondering if anyone out there (in QLD in particular) might happen to know some people who know some people, who might be able to supply us with some wheels to prop models against/in front of?

I’ve come across one or two car yards that specialise in those vehicles but so far no luck.

Suggestions welcome.

Brisbane shoot

After deciding to postpone the main Eucalypse shoot until November, we went ahead with a smaller weekend event given a few of us were going to be there and a few of the venues wanted us to get some images for them sooner rather than later.

I’ve written up a summary of the shoot along with some of my unedited images on the Eucalypse website.

Jealous? Of course you are.

Get off your arse and register for the November shoot. You can thank me later.

3 day photoshoot in Brisbane and the Gold Coast

This year we’re pulling up our mud-drenched, ice-encrusted boots from Melbourne’s boggy winter streets, and we’re heading north for some Sun, sand and snapping in Brisbane and the Gold Coast over 3 (and for some people, four) days.

We start the shoot in Brisbane’s CBD, kicking off at two of the most prestigious addresses in the city: Eagle Street Pier and Waterfront Place. Both parts of Brisbane’s Golden Triangle, they have a sweeping view of the Brisbane River, Story Bridge and Kangaroo Point as the backdrops to a variety of corporate, social and fashion imagery.

Jandrie asked for a Western style saloon, so we found him one (or the closest thing to it in Brisvegas). Turns out Irish Murphys is a bit of everything – historic pub, taxidermist, saloon, gaming venue…

After lunch, we head t

Feel like shooting in Brisvegas and the Gold Coast?

Glutton for punishment that I am, I decided that spending 10 months organising a multi-day photoshoot in my home city was not enough of a challenge, so I’m gonna try and organise one in a city 2000km away, and in half the time.

Not sure it can be done or not, but I’m keen to give it a crack.

Let me know if you’re up for it by registering for Eucalypse: Brisvegas

…also, I can’t believe there’s not a group devoted to Brisbane photography!

Eucalypse: Brisvegas

As I’ve already alluded to, our November 2010 shoot went so well I’ve decided to really challenge myself, and try to organise one of these things remotely. We’re going to Brisvegas in July or August, and we’re aiming for more (but in less time).

I’ve got a great big list of places to contact in the coming weeks. There’s loads of potential here and down the coast (sorry Matt – Sunshine Coast is looking wobbly – likely to be Gold Coast+Tweed Heads for beach scenes).

I’m gonna need some local volunteers to help find out things like:
- Body Corporate information for venues
- finding the best deals on transport
- local catering companies
- names of local councils (to get permit information)

Any takers?

Looking to beat the wrecking ball

If you haven’t been in central Melbourne recently, you’ll have noticed that Myer Lonsdale Street is looking a bit empty. You’ll also notice that Lonsdale House is gone, and the David Jones Store on Little Bourke Street has closed.

The David Jones store is about to be demolished and the Myer building will soon be refitted for apartments etc. Arcade Alley ( sits between the two, and I want to get some glamour/editorial style shots in there before the look of the alley is changed forever.

Looking to team up with models, MUAs, and wardrobe/clothing designers and stylists to capture some images in the space over February before the demolition work gets underway.

Eucalypse 2011

So, who’s interested in helping me put together the next one?

I’m looking at a city that isn’t Melbourne. Sydney would be pushing it. I’m liking Brisvegas or Perth.

Timing will depend on the location but it’d be likely to be between June and October 2011.

Any takers?
