I’ve wanted to visit this place since I was about 8years old. As luck would have it, when I did come here I was suffering from some pretty severe dysentery, so couldn’t stay long, and definitely couldn’t make the climb to Huayna Picchu.
...next time I guess.

Didn’t get to do the Inca Trail. I was on too tight a timeline to book for it, and as it turned out, was really unwell (as described above) when I actually got to that part of Peru, so probably just as well… :)

What time of year are you going? I was there on the cusp of the wet season and the weather was quite variable – you can see lots of clouds clinging to the valley walls in my image – rains heavily in the afternoon/evening, and very steamy at night.

I’m planning to Machu Picchu during the dry season, in the month of September. The weather is quite mild at that time of the year, and the springtime landscape particularly beautiful.

September shouldn’t be too bad. My brother was there during November which should’ve been quite wet, but he scored a lucky day when the sun was out and there was mist moving across the city.
