Dernier soupir
On the day I did this painting, it was so hot here in Paris that I thought it would be kinda useless working with my watercolours.
Everything would dry way too quickly and that would limit my work.
But I started and finally I painted the warmest scene of death (you can “read” what you want in the painting: a romantic scene or an erotic one, it will fit too… but it is Death I painted, trust me :-)
And what if Death wasn’t as gloomy and grey-ish as we imagine it?
Death will always be sad for those who cry for the departure of their beloved.
But those who leave… maybe they really find such warmth, peace, and tranquillity.

great artwork!

Red can mean warmth and comfort as well as the fires of Hell. I see this as someone’s Guardian Angel comforting a soul. Lovely piece as usual!

Robert: thank you! I’m always surprised when my work touches someone! :)
Peter: honestly I had not thought about these colours linked to hell but that is so true! (I’m so bad at reading my own paintings! lol) thank you for your words! :)

Beautiful work, I love the dreamy feeling you’ve created… great job!

Thank you! Yeah I tried to create at least a positive atmosphere, something I wanted to link to death for once :)
