The Three Stooges by Barb Miller

Longmont, Colorado Spring 2010
St. Vrain River Bottom
Great Blue Herons (Ardea herodias)

Best viewed large. LOL

The Great Blue Heron is a well-known and abundant wading bird in Colorado. It’s slender shape posed motionless in the shallows of a pond is a familiar sight. Whether in the air or in the waters it is a beautiful sight to see. Some herons remain in the state through winter. These guys return late spring to their nesting ground where prairie dogs are plentyful. When the trees leaf out it is difficult to see them.
