Wind Power Version # 2
Looking like a colourful mutant weathervane gone mad, “The Blowhole” is an artpiece by Duncan Stemler, that can be found in Docklands Park, Melbourne.
It is a most hypnotic piece of kinetic sculpture, each armature revolving independently in the wind. This is another photograph captured by my Diana F “toycamera” on medium format film.

Whoa…:) Spectacular! Its like some bizarro alien antennae posing as a collective of lollipops, yum!
I really like the darkened edges and the quirky thing that you do with your photography!
Cameron Stephen
Thanks Melody. The darkened edges are an artifact of the peculiar characteristics of the plastic lens this camera (The Diana F) has. The camera is made entirely of plastic including the lens. Each toy camera has its own unique look determined by these crappy lenses. What some would call optical faults make for the quirky and often pleasantly surprising results seen in these photos. Hopefully my choice of subject matter and compositional judgement help make the photo unique too!
Hope all that didn’t sound too much like a lecture!
Toy Cameras 101 – conratulations – you have just completed module 1!

That was a great read, thank you:) Im itchin’ to try one of these camera’s where would I find one? Ebay? Are they readily available?
Yes, the subject matter adds “alot” of quirk as does the composition, I know its not purely “camera”. :)

Lovin’ the toy camera effect – it has avery distinctive look and feel as the full colour spectrum is treated differently – but look at the results…!

Thanks Paul! Melody, I’ve replied to your question in your latest journal entry.
