perfect title for a painfully touching and powerful capture….

Washington Square Park is being torn up – gentrified – what’s left to hang out is a fraction of the eastern half … I don’t know if the unusual degree of reaching out I saw last weekend was the result of ample hooch (which there was), or clinging to each other while we were all being displaced (I’ve sung in that park since my 20’s – sans the hooch – I sing better sober.)

he looks so exhausted….....the bones in his cheeks so sharp…the tendens in his forearm so noticeable…...........the handclap so amazingly touching. i’m almost left in tears here…

Great conception and execution. I would say you did it naturally. But it’s such a masterpiece. The look in his eye is unforgettable. His face is so humane. I think you should upload the image to other sites too, to let more people see this. Besides these, I’m speechless.
Judith Oppenhe... replied
thank you Zhao. i was lucky to capture the moment.

This is fantastic. There’s something about the handhold that really gets me. It points out, that even though people like this, seem worlds away, to many of us, it shows that they are just the same. In need of human contact.
Judith Oppenhe... replied
exactly, i was really startled to see him holding that man’s hand, its a vulnerability not that commonly displayed and it really wasn’t a hand shake, it was a reaching out, and i was lucky to capture it.
