Weird name, huh? Yeah, lots of seashells only have Latin genus+species names, and the Scalptia mercadoi is one of them. This belongs to a family sometimes commonly called “Nutmegs”, so I’ve nicknamed this one “Sculpted Nutmeg”.
Again, nothing has been done to this shell to enhance its appearance. It isn’t carved, painted, dyed or polished. All is 100% natural. This specimen is approximately 25mm (1") long.
