Joshua Tree silhouette in the Mojave Desert, with a backdrop of Mountain High Ski resort taken on the way home from Las Vegas.
Joshua Trees (Yucca Brevifloria) can reach 40 feet in height and thrive in the rugged terrain of the desert at elevations of 2000-6000 ft. They have since been reclassified as a member of the Lily ( Liliaceae) family.
The Mojave Desert is the only place in the world where Joshua Trees grow.
