Watch. by Matthew Scotland

pen on paper

Mark 13:35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh…Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

been rummaging through some old sketchbooks to find ideas and thought i’d post some golden oldies of the biro pen years. Here a spiritual reminder to keep watch, dont get caught up in the myriad distractions of this indulgent world, dont take your eye of the ball like Esau and trade your spiritual inheritance for a bowl of porridge to fill your belly.

Excellent – loads of detail – must have taken ages to do – but well worth the time and effort.

  • cheers dave, it was worth it, many hours of obsessive hatching, sometimes falling out with it, but it always demands you back til completion

love this one…..and nice timing. I was reading about St Govan of Scotland, Pembroke I think it was…and he built a chapel in the side of the cliffs by the sea to live a life devoted to God after the world seduced him for a time. I was thinking last night how many times I have spewed forth my vehement dislike for the world, the stresses placed upon everyday living, the spiraling materialism and how there’s a part of me that just wants to disappear away from the hell of the world steeped in sin. I honestly believe if it wasn’t for Jaymi I would be out right now searching for a place away from everything where I could live in simplicity and peace.

I love how this image makes me think again that God’s voice against sin remains strong so that our FOCUS remains on HIM! Love you my brother in Christ

  • thankyou sis, it must be his plan to have you in this world, darkening as it is, shining the light through your devotion and creations, the words of god will keep us filled in the spiritual famine.
ah st govan, the celtic monks make a great read, here st govan’s chapel, nestled in the cliffs among the caves and holy wells, would love to visit

yes indeed, there it is, I was viewing some beautiful shots of this amazing chapel, still makes my heart swell with appreciation. If you’re wondering what sent me in that direction, it’s because I was searching for things from Govan, the town where Sam was born but the place struck me as so oppressive that when I saw that there was a St Govan I just had to read about him and am so glad I did!

  • lol, yes govan is a far cry from st govans chapel, its not a place that the scottish tourist board would stick on their posters, thank goodness for the saint there to take you from the sheer visual oppression of govan, interesting journeys we have in searching with one thing leading to another, towards beauty and faith in your case, made me chuckle too : )
