a common sight of the child leaping into the footprints of the parent, gleefuly following wherever they lead, the scene cries out morality tale. What is the building on the hill? it could be the home, or a library,a community hall, a pub, a church, an art group, a drug den….. wherever the big feet go, the little feet follow.
spiritually the vision is heaven or hell in a christmas card. all of us are children, all of us followers of a paternal something or someone, its just a question of who is your father, and where is your home.
Matt, I really think the equivocal quality makes this very powerful. The child is having a fun time in the patch of light in the foreground – but what’s in the shadows? The dark figure of the man and the gloom surrounding the buildings strike a chill allright. Much food for thought …
most excellent, i never thought of the light and dark symbology, thankyou
Great picture and great words.I’ve been blessed to be able to get out of one set of footprints and I’m learning to follow a better set.Lee.
that is a blessed thing, my joy for you on the new birth, thats an insightful image too of leaving one set of prints for another, i may digest that thought and see if something turns up, i find your comments uplifting, thanks
