2Kings 1:10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I [be] a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

this is Elijah, affectionately known as god’s arsonist summoning the wrath of the lord on the pagans.

    Awesome Drawing Matt,
the story of Elijah and the Priests of Baal,
is one of my favourote BIblical Stories,
    “perhaps your Gods are sleeping”

  • cheers max, and how brilliant is that part you highlighted, you really feel the drama and the glory of the story at that part, i’m glad i never had elijah’s fire powers i would have abused it terribly, i would be living in a charred northern hemisphere by now

Exceptional, you have captured the raw nature of the Old Testament so well in your depiction, even though Elijah is calling the power of god with hands outstreched, he bows his head as a submissive. Modern pictorials usually ( always ) have the head upwards as a spritual ( human ) connection. The God Elijah knew was to be both feared and loved. If Elijah feared his loving God’s wrath what chance did his enemies have! : )

  • you know my work better than i do, you should be writing commentary full-time, i prefer your write-ups than the work i post, keep visiting and telling me whats in my brain, it will save a fortune on psychiatrist bills
