Knowledge - you are what you eat
Eve returns to Adam having eaten the forbidden fruit.
Acrylic on canvas. 38×36 in.
this picture is a collaboration with fellow bubbler Jeff Schauss who painted a loose background on canvas so that i could then see what images would appear from the textures. neither of us had any pre-conceptions of what the image should be, letting the work develop into its own form was a breath of fresh air from my usual pre-planned assaults from sketches and notes. and so an image of eden emerged, in that critical interjunction between the fall of eve and the fall of adam, and the changing of humanity forever.

lol, well look at Adam! he can’t contain himself he’s gone a glowing, but hey “she” tempted him and “he” followed, so his weakness was there also, if he had of hidden a bit better he may still be there. lol
Matthew Scotland replied
lol, well poor adam was all innocent, perhaps he could have tried to hide but luminosity has been the downfall of many a pre-flood hide-and-seek champion.

I’ve always worried about the literal translation of this “fall” text, and felt that when one observes Islam and the covering of the head of females, also in old testament bible belt factions in the US that the danger of “literal” translation causes our sisters to be the recipients of so much angst and derision. men have “blamed” women for the fall, when in fact it’s the feminine aspect of “all” consciousness. one has to read up on Kabbalah to see the principles of masculine and feminine archetypes.
Matthew Scotland
yes that other mystical tree of life the sephiroth could unlock many a simplistic mindset, but who would do the washing up
JohnThunderbird
well, the truth is the truth is the truth, and people must deal with their own inability to go looking for themselves, they can’t “blame” anyone when the shit comes down.

a star at last, the photographers are lining up outside as i type, i may need to hide out in avalon to escape the rushing hordes : )

I love that “adam” still “pure” is luminious and “Eve” now knowledgeable and therefore optionally flawed, is now fully human!
Wonderful image, wonderful collaboration, wonderful art!
Matthew Scotland replied
yes thats the one, now he must decide what step to take next, to turn away from sin or take the fall for his love, mills and boon aint fgot a look-in

Beautiful piece of art. I love the depth of the forest, the foliage and the ground cover is so thick and lush. The way in which you have Eve’s body striding forth towards Adam, I can almost hear the rustling of the leaves as she moves. It has such a cool atomosphere, a haunting yet magical feel to it. A very moving piece.
