I’m lucky enough to live on Sydney’s beautiful Northern Beaches. I have lived in the UK, Ireland and NZ, but this is home for myself and family.
Ever since I was 6 or 7 I’ve enjoyed taking photos. At 12 I moved from point and shoot to an SLR (a 2nd hand Zenit which weighed a ton). Since then I’ve gone between point and shoot and SLR a few times. After moving to digital I hardly knew myself and was able to take as many shots as I wanted. I had a Panasonic FX7 for a year and managed to get a picture published in an Australian magazine (Burke’s Backyard) and win the photo of the month. This gave me a huge boost and after saving up, I treated myself to a DSLR in December 2008. I knew camera basics from previous SLR cameras but found it wonderful to be able to play with the various settings and see instantly the difference any adjustment would make.
As a full time office worker and Mum, photography gives me an outlet for my creative side whether it be actually taking the shots or photoshopping. It’s also my escape, going down to the beach before sunrise and the rest of humanity is so good for the soul!
