Gouache and Ink on Paper

Unlike a maze, a labyrinth is a solitary pathway that ripples a meandering course inward. It has often been used as a symbol of pilgrimage and like the Labyrinth of Chartres, the pathway can be physically followed inward as a meditative journey. How one chooses to use that journey is up to them, but my use of the labyrinth in this piece represents that meditative journey centering inward. Shrouded by the ‘cloud of unknowing’, a deep blue refers to the mystical vision which owls often represent. Due to it’s nocturnal lifestyle, the owl is often associated with mysterious and mystical omens in various cultures. The seer is one who sees into the future, into the night and prophecies what they see.
