Somewhat of a personal piece, this painting came about after receiving a prophetic picture from someone at the church I was attending in Halifax. He’d seen the heavy military parka I was wearing and mentioned that it reminded him of his time working up north. In the picture he saw me carrying a ball of fire into strong prevailing winds and behind me were footprints of fire. He said that the fire represented encouragement and that I would bring encouragement to those living in cold, barren places. 21 months later I got a random job teaching art and music on Berens River First Nation.
I painted this piece as a visual reminder of how such prophetic words are not meant to be treated lightly, but rather they are to be treated with faith and expectation.
