I’ve been wanting to try my hand at an Art Nouveau piece for some time now. I’m a big fan of Mucha’s work and I find it quite a delight to intertwine patterns and nature with all the sensual curves of design. There is a flavour of Art Nouveau that I have seen in some of Canada’s Group of 7 as well as in nature, itself.

Trees have always been a strong spiritual symbol of worship for me. Like people, they are rooted to this earth, from which they draw nourishment, but at the same time, they grow upwards and strain their limbs towards a greater source of life. They reach for the light even as the natural elements of seasons and storms weather and age them gnarled.

    Caleb,
It’s not often that another’s work resembles what you are trying to ‘say’ smiles, so thank you

  • Thanks so much for your encouraging words.
