I moved from America to New Zealand and then to Australia; I moved each time with a love of photography but not a need; now the need is real.
The very land itself calls constantly for a record to be made, demands changes from me, both as an individual and as a photographer, driven by the challenge of building a new home each time.
I must document these places, places that family and friends far away may never see, and I must document for myself a life that occasionally seems as if it must belong to someone else (the beauty, of course, is that it does not). Through my lens I seek to find a significant representation of every experience and every face in the hope that I can make each view real for those not present.
Perhaps I could send home glass jars filled with red earth and seashells, beach stones and kookaburra feathers, things that can be smelled and touched, sensed in a way that is more generous than paper, but I choose this, photography.
