A Whole New World

Wow! Redbubble has changed a lot since last I posted! It’s like a whole new site! It’s so great that Redbubble has grown from its humble beginnings to such a huge, well-rounded, well-recognized community. I miss being here and I’m a little sad that RB and I have grown apart as the site’s grown up. I feel like I’ve been here since the beginning and I miss the support of the artists here. I miss browsing around the various galleries and being inspired by all the talent found therein. I even miss being a group moderator/host because I felt like I was giving back to the community that had been so good to me. Redbubble earned me a lot of recognition (and many new friends) back in the day and for that I am very grateful!

Update!

Hi Bubblers!

I’ve been absent from RB for a while but I just wanted to drop by to let everyone know that I’m still alive. Work has been eating up almost all of my time so I probably won’t be as active on this site as I once was. Please feel free to keep up with current goings-on by checking out my blog :) There are some cool new things posted there now and I try to update it pretty regularly so you can expect to see some more good stuff there soon. I just recently photographed an event inspired by Adam Bouska’s NOH8 campaign so I will be uploading some of those images in the coming days. Stop by and take a peek!

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful week!

1: Tell me something about your image Struggling Silence?

‘Struggling Silence’ is a very personal piece to me, and the only thing I feel comfortable saying is that it was made during a time in my life when I felt very isolated and afraid of being judged. Sometimes it’s a struggle to speak out.

2: How did you create it? ( You don’t have to give away any secrets. )

Very little of it was done in post. Only the color, texture, some leveling, and the lightened irises. The color was added to the texture layer (which was a scanned-in watercolor wash) and then added to the original image using a blend mode, but I don’t remember which one. Oh, I also got rid of a bra strap and smoothed over the mouth and added the stitches (duh).

3: What version of PhotoShop did you use?

Ph

It's Not the Lens, Folks - It's the Person Behind It!

A lot of people have been asking me what camera and lenses I use. Instead of replying to everyone individually, I thought I’d just put the answer out here in a journal.

So, what lens do I use?
The one that came factory attached to my shitty little handheld Samsung Digimax 530.

What camera do I use?
The shitty little handheld that came factory attached to my ONE lens ;-P

I do not have a fancy, high-end camera. Though I would LOVE to get my hands on a Canon EOS 350D or any model of Nikon, I just don’t have the money. Besides, my little camera gets the job done just fine. Sometimes I am lucky enough to get to borrow my mom’s camera – a Panasonic Lumix. It’s no Nikon, but it is a really good camera. The only images in my gallery that were taken with that camera so …
