Walking in the Spirit of the Ancient Ones by

Walking the Dry River Bed

Ghosts live here.
Their faces watch
from the bark of cottonwood.
Their song is
leaf and wind.
My single heart
beats not alone.
I walk the path
of invisible deer.
The dust of my walking
rises… smoke of earth
and centuries.

Poem copyright Lenore A. Senior

March 27, 2012. These digital photographs were blended to create this image originally taken at the Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs, Colorado. This particular image is special to me due to my associations with Native American nations as well as the dry river bed on our land in Wyoming on which our hand-hewn log cabin built by my family exists.

When I lived in Wyoming (my soul state), I mostly took nature shots, often macro works, including plant life. Now that I live in a city, I still love nature work, and I also love architecture, design, geometry, urban art, etc. My work tends to be abstract, expressionistic, impressionistic, or minimalistic. I hope I continue to see with fresh eyes, and like a child, capture the a sense of wonder of this fantastic world and its people.

Hi Lenore: Really like this particular work; also, Native Nations are of particular interest to me, too. An email notified me today that you will be ‘following’ me: I want you to know I removed my work back when R/B changed hands; but, I expect to be posting more sometime this coming Winter. So, thank you.//Is City Life now as satisfying to you?

  • Hi, JacqueLynn~Yes, when I went to your site, I saw no works of yours but put you on my watch list on a hunch about our common interests….and I see I was right. I’ll be looking forward to seeing your work. I still prefer country life, but I love wherever I am and believe there are many things to live and experience wherever I may happen to be. By the way, my father wrote the book Smoke Upon the Winds, about the Hopi, People of Peace. He was also an artist who went to the Art Students’ League in NYC.
