A History of Black & White Thinking by

This painting has been featured in Women Painters and is a commentary about America’s history of violence. It is also a reference to its shameful history involving slavery and prejudice, all of which was filled with violence, hatred, and disrespect for another whole group of people. The lack of ability to think in terms of greys contributes to the violence in our culture. We are either right or wrong. You’re with us or them. US vs. THEM thinking still exists and we’re now in the 21st Century?

7×14″ acrylic on stretched canvas, gallery wrap.

When I lived in Wyoming (my soul state), I mostly took nature shots, often macro works, including plant life. Now that I live in a city, I still love nature work, and I also love architecture, design, geometry, urban art, etc. My work tends to be abstract, expressionistic, impressionistic, or minimalistic. I hope I continue to see with fresh eyes, and like a child, capture the a sense of wonder of this fantastic world and its people.

A beautiful abstract, Lenore, with a serious message. There is a gray, and plenty of sensible people; but we rarely hear about them in the media, which is very black and white, and promotes the sense that everything is black and white. It’s that middle, those many quieter voices in America, at its heart, despite past sins (or present). All nations have pasts that probably would not make them proud today. Congratulations on your fabulous feature in Women Painters.
