idle time.
...and what are the words one uses to describe a compilation?, works from my entire life?, fifty years of carrying around a yellow pad?, fifty years of writing and rewriting, changing the words, as their meanings change for me?
These pieces are extracted from my book of prose, “50 truths and 50 lies, the first 50 years.” Available From: http://www.cafepress.com/byrongates.26516064
it’s the weekends
that hurt the most;
idle time can be so destructive,
when used in such a foul way.
the mind seems to go
where it is least wanted
and thoughts start to create
their own form of loneliness,
stripping away
at each layer of sanity.
losing a love
is the master of all pain,
and reliving the words
on those long weekends,
can be so very insane.

Jesus Christ, I could have written this myself. This is profcound, succinct, melancholy and TRUTH. Weekends are THE WORST. This is beautiful. I feel for you. My heart aches for you, and for all who know this weekend misery….......

Indeed this hits home for me as well. This piece brought so many of my own emotions to the surface this morning. Thanks for the head’s up Laura…...weekends…the space between….the yearning…the pacing…the echoes….

weekend, alone, longing, waiting, anguish, desire, madness….hoping for Monday…
