The sky was this amazing colour preceding a big, violent storm, it went from golds, to reds and oranges to black.
Courtship in ospreys centers on food and nest sites. In migratory osprey populations, males and females arrive at the nest site separately, the male often arriving several days earlier than the female. Male ospreys sometimes perform a conspicuous aerial display near the nest site. This display usually occurs during early courtship, and may serve to attract potential mates or to threaten an intruder.

About byronbackyard

Many thanks for checking out my photos, please feel free to give feedback! My wanderings in nature and observations of birds, particularly raptors, is what gives me great joy and constantly reminds me of the beauty and strength of life. My favourites are raptors, I love their freedom, grace, ruthlessness, pride, adaptability and flexibility and I learn much about parenting, protection and blind faith from them.

Great capture as usual Deb. Hope it is a great season for you.

  • Many thanks Alwyn. Much harder now as the weather is so unpredictable, plus it’s very overgrown and I have to fight my way down into the estuary … which I will do but impossible when it’s wet!
