Breeding ospreys are known to travel as far as 14 km from their nest during hunting forays. Non-breeding individuals are known to travel as far as 10 km between their daytime feeding grounds and their roosts. They vigorously defend their nests or nest sites from intruders. This is most likely because nests are used by the same pair for many years, and represent a significant investment of time and energy by that pair. Canon 50D, EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
I think this is a lovely image against that super sky. We have spent hours at Rutland water trying to photograph these birds, but they are both elusive and fast. Well done you. Alma
Many thanks Alma, this is after years of taking really ‘dud’ shots!
For sure, you have the most wonderful osprey shots I have seen on the web. Love this one!
Many thanks for your very kind comment, I love them and spend a huge amount of time watching and photographing them so it’s great when others see their their beauty!
