Ospreys do vigorously defend their actual nests or nest sites from intruders. This is most likely because nests are used by the same pair for many years, and represent a significant investment of time and energy by that pair. This female Osprey is warning me to move back a bit. She’s usually very tolerant of me but at the moment she probably has eggs so she’s very protective of the nest.
