A Barn Owl hunts for prey in the late evening in the bush at the end of my backyard. I imagine he’s after the bush rats for his evening meal. Barn Owls are moderately common, but generally hard to see, as they are mostly active at night. During the day, the birds roost on concealed tree branches. They are the most widespread and familiar of the owls. They are generally quiet, the common call being a 12 second rough, hissing screech. Canon 450D, EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM

another great shot. Do you have a lot of owls where you live?
Many thanks … there are quite a few owls and nightjars … hard to spot though or they just waft through at night! Usually I see them sporadically as they seem to move around a bit!
