A juvenile Osprey crouches down in a man-made nesting platform contemplating flight. In the background a stormy sky over Tallow Creek, Byron Bay. Canon 50D, EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
Lol … bit of both plus she knows me so I can get fairly close. Also that was the day before she flew so she still couldn’t leave the nest but she can hide in the nest. Thanx for your comments.
Thanks so much, it was one of the best 2 months of my life photographing this particular Osprey from before she was born and then from about 2 weeks old through to her first flight, first fish catch. Reminds me what an amazing world it is.
Beautiful Bird, great light! Nice capture! Looks like I must go there for a holiday!
It’s the best place for a holiday and I have travelled quite a bit …. lots of beautiful birds, animals, landscapes and it’s also a pretty diverse and interesting place! Thanks for the great feedback …. I love those Osprey.!
you obviously love your birds! the stormy background to this is wonderful for the beautiful creature
Thanks so much Soxy, I do love my birds and especially the raptors … this particular Osprey, that I call Harriet, is my favorite as I’ve photographed her since she was 2 weeks old. Glad you like it.

wow this is really great! Do you crawl up on your hands and knees or do you have an awesome zoom to get this close haha?
