Australia’s premier Coffee-Table Photography Magazine, produced by STUDIO MAGAZINE AUST.
[not only] Black & White Magazine
Black+White was a bimonthly Australian magazine published by Studio Magazines that debuted in the summer of 1992. For a period it was also known as (Not Only) Black+White magazine.
Black+White showcased art, photography and graphic design as well as interviews with celebrities and features on popular culture and current events. It featured work by Herb Ritts, Annie Leibovitz and David LaChapelle amongst many others.
The magazine gained most of its notoriety for publishing nude photographs of (mainly Australian) celebrities, most particularly those of Australian athletes set to compete in the Olympic Games. Although the images were shot in an artistic manner and are not meant for titillation, they still drew controversy from conservative groups in Australia, and with some figures such as Lauren Jackson, overseas.
Large Format, 80gsm Satin Paper, this magazine was the world leader in exquisite B&W art photography featuring work from the most famous Australian and International Photographers, with each issue also including and Australian Celebrity Nude Photoshoot.
