THE WAY FORWARD - THE SECOND PRINCIPLE

Verse 2

Whenever I interact with someone, may I view myself as the lowest amongst all, And from the very depths of my heart respectfully hold others as superior.

This is about not considering yourself to be more important than other people because that creates negative thoughts within yourself which are harmful to both yourself and others, Whereas when you hold the other person’s well-being as more important than your own, then you do not harm them [or yourself] – because your concern is for them and not you.

All human beings experience pain and suffering, to be human is to experience pain and sffering – no-one who has ever lived has escaped this condition of our existance.

To consider yourself, your thoughts, your feelings to be more important than another’s will only create pain and suffering for the other person, whereas to consider them to be more imprtant than yourself, to consider their pain and suffering to be more important than your own means that you will help them to heal, to feel love and happiness.
